Sela Pass at 13,700 ft. A frozen lake above the clouds. Shangti Valley below. Three days that move from orchards and rivers to the roof of Arunachal Pradesh.
One of the highest motorable passes in the world. Snow almost year-round, a glacial lake that mirrors the sky, and views that make everything below feel very far away. The drive up from Dirang is the most dramatic road in West Kameng.
The valley hosts a government sheep farm that doubles as the most unlikely luxury viewpoint in Arunachal. Rolling meadows, pine ridges, and mountain air so clean it genuinely changes how you feel by morning.
On your final day you\'ll visit Bhairabkund — the sacred confluence at India\'s border with Bhutan. Few tourists get here. The drive through Shergaon\'s horticulture farms is a bonus you will always remember.

Yes — Arunachal Pradesh requires an ILP for all non-residents. We arrange this entirely on your behalf. You just need to share your Aadhaar Card or Passport details at least 7 days before departure. ILP fees are fully included in all package prices. Foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) — please inform us when booking.
Sela Pass (13,700 ft) is generally open year-round but can be temporarily closed due to heavy snowfall in winter (December–February). We monitor road conditions and will inform you of any changes. Snow chains may be required in winter — these are arranged by us. The best months are March–June and September–November.
Sela Pass is at 13,700 ft (4,175 m) — this is significant altitude. We recommend consulting your physician before booking if you have any cardiac, respiratory or blood pressure conditions. We carry a basic first-aid kit. The ascent is gradual by road so acclimatisation is natural. Most healthy adults handle it well with proper hydration.
Breakfast is included for both mornings. Lunch and dinner are not included because we want you to enjoy local food along the route at your own pace. Budget approximately ₹300–500 per person per day for meals. Your guide will recommend the best local options.
Pack warm layers — even in summer, Sela Pass is cold. A heavy jacket, thermals, gloves and a windproof layer are essential. Carry sunscreen (UV is strong at altitude), lip balm, and water. Wear grip shoes. Carry a rucksack or mid-size trolley — luggage may need to be moved at certain points.
If you cancel 30 or more days before the tour start date, you will receive a 50% refund of the paid amount. If you cancel within 30 days of the tour, no refund will be given. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance for trip cancellation coverage.
Yes, with one note — Sela Pass at 13,700 ft is high altitude. Children generally handle it well if they are in good health. Infants aged 1–5 years travel completely free of charge. Two children aged 5–12 years together are counted as one adult for pricing. Please mention children\'s ages and any health conditions when booking.
