Shergaon’s farms and gompa. Shangti Valley’s sheep farm. Sela Pass at 13,700 ft. Bumla Pass at 15,200 ft on the Indo-China border. Tawang Monastery — second-largest in the world. Six days, four vehicle types, two stay tiers.
Day 4 takes you to Bumla Pass, where India meets China at 15,200 ft. A restricted area accessible only with a special permit — included in this tour. Standing at the border post, with both armies visible, is unlike anything else on the Northeast India circuit.
Built in the 17th century at 10,000 ft, Tawang Monastery is the spiritual and cultural heart of this journey. Day 5 morning is dedicated to it — butter lamps, ancient thangkas, chanting monks, and a view down the valley that puts everything in perspective.
Day 1 in Shergaon’s apple orchards and gompa, Day 2 through Shangti Valley’s sheep farm, Dirang’s hot spring and the Chug Valley Heritage Museum. The first two days are the unhurried, ground-level West Kameng that most Tawang tours skip entirely.

Yes — Arunachal Pradesh requires an ILP for all non-residents. For Tawang, a Protected Area Permit (PAP) is also required. Bumla Pass requires an additional Border Area Permit. We arrange all permits on your behalf. Share your Aadhaar Card or Passport details at least 10 days before departure. All permit fees are included in the package price.

Only accommodation quality differs.
Both are 6-day tours at similar prices. 6TS starts with Shergaon on Day 1 and includes Shangti Valley and Dirang’s hot spring on Day 2. 6TM instead includes the Mago & Chuna Valley excursion (a remote valley near the Tibetan border) on Day 3. 6TM gives more depth around Tawang; 6TS gives more of the West Kameng ground-level experience. Bumla Pass is included in both.
Bumla Pass at 15,200 ft is the actual Indo-China border in Tawang district. It requires a special Border Area Permit — included in this tour. You can walk up to the border post. Very few commercial itineraries include Bumla. It is the highest and most historically significant stop on this circuit.
Both involve significant altitude. Sela is at 13,700 ft; Bumla is at 15,200 ft. We recommend consulting your physician if you have cardiac, respiratory or blood pressure conditions. Ascents are gradual by road. We carry first-aid kit and oxygen support throughout.
Breakfast is included for all 5 mornings. Lunch and dinner are not included. Budget ₹400–600 per person per day. Your guide will recommend local options at each stop.
Pack for varied conditions: Shergaon evenings are cool; Sela Pass and Bumla Pass require heavy layers — thermals, down jacket, gloves, wool socks, windproof outer layer. Waterproof jacket throughout. Good grip shoes. Sunscreen and lip balm for high-altitude days. Carry a rucksack or mid-size trolley.
If you cancel 30 or more days before the tour start date, you will receive a 50% refund of the paid amount. If you cancel within 30 days, no refund will be given. We strongly recommend travel insurance — weather at Bumla Pass and Sela Pass can cause last-minute road closures.
